Tonight I helped out with a program at church where our young women, (age 12 to 18) show case their talents and what they have learned this year.
I am new to this program. I didn’t grow up in this church and therefore missed my own time in Young Women’s. Just a few months ago I was asked to help out with them. Boy has it been an eye opener. I am in charge specifically of the 12 to 14 year olds, and it has been educational. This age group is called the Beehives and here’s what I’ve learned:
First rule of Beehives is they never shut up.
Second rule of Beehives is they can put away some food.
Now you would think that the first rule would inhibit the second rule, but no. They managed to do both quite nicely. Which is good because the older girls are too cool to eat or talk. Evidently the first rule of the older girls is you are only allowed to roll your eyes. And occasional sighing. That seems to be okay too. But that’s it.
Don’t get me wrong, we have some pretty rawkin young women. I’m just trying to give you a little peak into the fascinating and rarely seen world of the 12 to 18 year old girl. In case you were wondering. Which I wasn’t until about 3 months ago. But now I am. Because someone asked me to. So I do.
The end.
Dude, you think that’s rough. Try being a young man tryin’ to get wit dat. Where were you explaining all of these rules back in the day? Coulda been handy, that’s all I’m saying.
Oh please, Jeff, you got game.
Erika, SO TRUE!!! Aren’t you glad you majored in teen boys instead of girls. I taught the busybees before and seriously, I got a headache EVERY Sunday. But they are cute girls and they worship the very ground you walk on!
um… I was a beehive at the time of you posting this and I am slightly offended by the sad and true facts about beehives in this!
