10! That’s Two Whole Hands!

Ding Dong Baby Belle, birthday letter calling!

Emme Belle! You’re 10! If ever an occasion called for liberal exclamation use, it’s 10! I can’t help but point out that I’ve been through this occasion twice before, (with your brothers) but I assure you, never has a human been so excited to be 10!

So on the 3rd of this month you ran screaming into your 11th year of life, with your hands waving over your head, much like you do everything. But to dwell on that day would be silly as we here at DRY Inc, BELIEVE in the birthday week with all our hearts and arms raised to the square, amen.

So the week started with Hurricane, as three of your past 10 birthdays have. We were incredibly blessed to have come through this storm so well. The people of LaPlace and Plaquimenes parish weren’t so lucky. But on Friday the 31st we were able to pull it all together for a fan-didilly-tastic sleep over and dress up party with 4 of your closest friends. That’s the night my closet threw up.

I just put my head between my legs and took deep breathes.

But things brighten up when you guys decided it was time for cake and I was able to say ‘no cake til the closet is cleaned up.’ We were enjoying cake within 15 minutes. You have screwed up, because now I know you can clean quickly if motivated properly. I’ve just got to figure out how to lord cake over you daily!

On Sunday we partied at church, where it was Emme day all day! We wrapped up Monday, your actually BIRTHday, with a family party where all the grandparents showered you with more love and gifts. Whew, I’m tired just reliving it to type it all.

E-Belle, this is the part where I gush and tell you that you are greatest girl on the planet. I am willing to admit that you are the only little girl in my life on a permanent basis but I can’t image one prettier, smarter, more caring or loving. Probably not messier either though.

You continue to be the most caring sensitive person I know. You still excel in academics and have begun reading more on your own. You are beginning to rival your brother with your nose in a book. You still watch too much TV and are a total girly girl. You teach me everyday what it means to be a girl. Your best friend is Liah and you guys are inseparable. I’m not sure who is more excited about her family buying a home in our neighborhood, you or her? I’m pretty sure I will never see you again. I kid some, but I do have concerns. A life without you it would be very boring. Who’s hair would I attempt to fix? And who would give me the greatest hugs in the universe??? I’d be lost, so don’t stay gone too much okay?

I love you young lady. I can’t even call you little girl any more, you are growing into an amazing young woman. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for your life. I’m so luckily to be your mom and along for the ride!

Love her! And you! You write the best letters. Are you making them into books one day? That would be so special.
