Jax,
Yesterday you turned 6 years old. Despite this fact, you have spent the day telling everyone that today is your birthday. When I corner you on it, you explain that your birthday is yesterday, today and tomorrow. Um, just because you’re birthday parties are carring on, doesn’t actually make it your birth-day.
No one can stretch a birthday like you father’s family. I guess we won’t be needing that DNA test now.
It’s been a great year. You have totally taken kindergarten by storm, even winning the best citizen award for the 4th quarter. I’m so proud of you. You have learned to read at a competent level and become an all around better person. In short: you rock. I don’t think I’m being prejudice, just because you are currently navigating my favorite age, you really ARE that cool. I could be wrong, it’s happen before, but I doubt it. We may have to wait and see how we handle those damn teens years, though.
I’m excited to embark on this summer’s road trip with you. I can’t wait to see you hit the waves this year as you have become an incredible swimmer and surfer. You never have been content to just rule one area, the world better hold onto its hat.
Academic, athlete, citizen, and smart ass, what more could a mother want?
I love you, thanks for being my son.
Mom
Can I just say that I think it’s the coolest thing that you write these letters to your kids on their birthdays? Don’t get a big head, but you’re a pretty cool mom.
