A Day In the Life of

So it turns out that you can cook all day and only have 2 meals to show for it.

Let me back up. I woke up this morning with a plan, and agenda if you will. I have Jacob to chauffeur around, cherubs to get to school, a client at 10 am, a photo shoot 4 pm, and Jeff’s office Christmas party at 8 pm, (which I still needed to find some where to put Jack, Em has a friend’s birthday sleep over, thank goodness.)

So I wake up get the cherubs ready and whoa, hold the phone, Jeff sticks around long enough to take the cherubs for me. While I’m ushering everyone out the door, my cell rings, my 4 pm photo shoot is bailing. Just as well, the weather is crappy. So I do some last minute computer work for my real job, get ready and head into the Denham office, as I’m want to do on Fridays. I arrive 5 minutes before 10 am and my client texts to say ‘sorry, can’t make it.’ Moving on. I have some free time, so I decide to stop by my brother’s mechanic shop to ask about a clicking noise the Exploder has been making. As I chat with my brother I feel guilty about never stopping by for anything other than car problems, so I don’t actually bring up the noise. I do how ever get an ear full on his life. I file it all under good to know and head out to Target to pick up a few supplies to make a couple of meals to freeze for next week.

I manage to get everything, and these adorable little numbers which I never even knew I needed.

Now the plan is to head home start cooking. Stop. Drive across town, pick up Jacob from work, take him to pay his car insurance, then drop him off at his girlfriends to finish fixing her car, (his only mod of transportation since the rebuilt transmission he spent $1000 putting in his is bad. Good times.) Only the can of stewed tomatoes I bought some how didn’t make it home. So I decide to sit down and do nothing for an hour, until it’s time to pick Jake up and grab the tomatoes on that trip.

I make some phone calls and hunt down a place to put Jack during Jeff’s swinging office shindig. But after an hour and half of waiting: no call from Jacob telling me he’s off work. I call him and he’s already gotten another ride and didn’t bother to let me in on that little secret. Fine, I’m off to the local grocery store to grab said tomatoes.

Once home I start cooking a ground beef mac and cheese casserole. Success. Then I start in on 6 homemade chicken pot pies. They are a pain. What was I thinking? At least I have the sense to use the pre-cooked rotisserie chicken, and have half of that left over for a dinner of pasta salad and veggies.

So now it is almost 6 pm. Both cherub’s are successfully deposited else where, I have six frozen pot pies and one beef noodle cheesy casserole thingy in the freezer and one half a rotisserie chicken getting cold on the counter, and all I want to do is go to bed.

But I still have one rawkin’ shindig to party at.

So I’ll be getting pretty if ya need me.

I think the glory is in the boots. With that kind of find, really, how good could the rest of the day be? Some things you just can’t compete with.
