Jack is new to scouting. Today we participating in the rain gutter regatta, where they set up rain gutters wrapped in ply wood and race little wooden boats the scouts build from kits. I guess it’s the new soap box derby thingy. I don’t know, my brother was never in scouts either, so this is all new to me. It all seemed terribly boring to me.
I wandered around looking for a seat and watched some of the races, thinking hopefully this will be over soon. It came time for Jack to race and he lost his first race out. It was some time before he raced again, but he won. He won the next race too. He kept on winning. It was actually quite exciting. I never thought I’d be one of those moms, but there I was screaming “Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner!” when Jack came from the loser’s bracket to win it all. Yep I’m one of those moms. I’m surprised one of the other mother’s didn’t punch me in in the face.
Welcome to the club…LOL!
Isn’t it stunning and a little scary how easy it is to slip over to the Dark Side?
