I’ve tried to be quiet through this whole election thing. Damn it I almost made it. I stay quiet because I’m too far to the left to be accepted by the right and too far to the right to be accepted by the left, leaving almost alone smack dab in the middle. I want less taxes, because it’s up to me how to spend my money. I want legal abortions, but only in the first trimester or when the mother’s health is in danger. I think everyone should have the right to enter into a marriage contract, that’s their business. I’ve lived as an uneducated single mother and worked to support us and get an education. It can be done. Don’t tell me it can’t.
Jeff put it best in a comment on Mandi’s blog: “The only groups that really see any improvement in quality of life from higher taxes are the politicians and lobbyists. And working in government I can tell you that for every dollar you pay in taxes to help the poor and needy, a large portion of it never makes it out of the bureaucratic pipeline. Excuse me, but let me keep my money and “redistribute it” how I see fit and you can do the same. This type of socialist plan only makes the statement that Americans are not charitable enough to help others on their own, so the gov’t must mandate it. Oh, and I agree, a marriage license filed with the state should be regarded the same as a business license and thus no limitations as to who is involve.”
But I’m not eloquent like Jeff. I don’t always express myself articulately. Sure get me talking about interpersonal relationships and therapeutic techniques, we’ll be here all night. But otherwise I’m too passionate. I get upset. I call you a stupid poopy head if you disagree with me.
But nothing has upset me as much as both main parties this election. I have yet to see a candidate running on anything other than the other guy sucks. I’m tired of it. Sick and tired of it. And that is why I am now an independent.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be avoiding election returns until the supreme court decides things in December.
*Update: I’m relieved this is decided and won’t be dragged out for weeks. I’m proud to have witness this moment in history. It’s yours now Mr. Obama, let’s see what you’ve got.
*Updated Again: As long as I’m quoting people. Go Read This.
Well said? Great information, keep up the great work!
